420 Ride

Can't think of anything to do in honor of the great pothead tradition that is 420? Well don't fret, Christian and the SoFlo crew are bringing us the 420 ride. Tonight, let's meet up for a chill ride through the Grove, Key Biscayne and Downtown Miami ending up at BAR. Sounds like a guaranteed good time and yes, I'm totally diggin' the flyer!

Beer Snob 3

We all love beer don't we? There is always a time and place to have a nice cold one and let the fluids of the natural hop induce our hearts and minds. For this purpose, Rydel and The Miami Bike Scene are bringing together the third annual Beer Snob bike ride on Saturday May 7, 2011. If you've never been on one of these rides it's pretty much a Critical Mass with the beer and loads of fun, plus a great way to meet chicks...err, I mean people. The pub crawl will consist of the same spots we went to on the previous last 2 Beer Snob rides and we will be meeting at the usual location at 3:30pm to start things off with a group ride to the first dive. With all the hype surrounding the premiere of the Travel Channel's new series 'Triple Rush', I figured I'd post this new extended trailer which is slightly over 2 minutes. I just can't wait for this any longer!

Slept On

This beautiful, highly limited 1993 Cannondale track just slipped quietly under the radar on eBay. To see such a rare track bike, in that color and size would have made me spend all my money if I would've seen the auction. I guarantee you'll never see one like this for sale ever again...it's absolutely jaw-dropping! But someone smarter scooped it up rather quickly. The auction didn't even last two hours, with a 'Buy It Now' price of $1600 it was sold in a heartbeat! Check out the listing with more photos here.

SoBe Ride

Riding in South Beach is always fun...plenty of everything going on all at the same time. This weekend was beautiful with beaming sun and temps in the upper 80's. Forget spring, it's summer already here in Miami! While my boy Bobby and I stopped for a cold drink after riding all afternoon, I snapped this photo of our beloved steeds on Washington Ave.

Triple Rush

Starting Thursday April 14th, the Travel Channel will premiere a new series titled Triple Rush which is an inside look into the rough and tough world of the New York City bike messenger. It's basically a reality show about messengers hustling on the daily grind, toughing it out and risking their lives. Triple Rush documents the inner-workings of 3 major courier services and the people that make it happen each and every day. I hear they got veteran messenger Austin Horse to follow the couriers around with helmet cams, and with his speed it must be interesting. If you're a cyclist you know that one can never own enough jersey's, just like underwear. And when it comes to jersey's we rock we tend to be slightly picky since we all want to look good, while we really look dumb. Rydel and the gang from Miami Bike Scene produced these legit as hell Veloce jersey's that no doubt come through with a sweet, yet simple design representing the MIAFixed logo. NYC Messenger Portraits

Takuya "Tak" Sakamoto is an old school bike messenger and photographer out of the big apple. He has worked with Japan's Loop Magazine and several other publications as well. He recently added a series of excellent portraits of New York's bike messengers he's shot throughout the years to his blog. The photo's are shot in different spots within, but each retain the same wonderful inner-city aesthetic. Tak's trained eye has gained him notoriety in all circles and his work just gets better with age, just check out his blog New York Bike Dreams to see what I'm talking about. Quick Pickup

I just can't get enough of New York's BodaBoda crew and their dope video's. Clean edits, great music, raw footage, and most of all fast riding through NYC streets. As I was browsing their Vimeo channel, I came across this awesome video titled "Quick Pickup". If you've ever wondered how it looks like from a NYC messengers point of view with a rear mounted camera, whilst on a 3x rush pickup, then check this viddy out!

Cinelli Vigorelli: Limited Edition Red Hook Crit Frame

The wonderful people at Cinelli never cease to amaze me! They have produced a limited edition custom Vigorelli frame for the upcoming Red Hook Criterium taking place March 26th in Red Hook, Brooklyn. The frame boasts such a beautiful color combo with those red accents and subtle graphics, Cinelli definitely outdid themselves with this beauty. Only way of owning one is to win, win, win! I wish I could attend this event even though I don't have a chance at winning, but this race will be epic in every way starting with the prizes.

MonsterTrack XII NYC: Re-Cap

The worlds most famous alleycat MonsterTrack returned this weekend in NYC for the 12th straight year. Of course the one and only Crihs took first place, but he deserves it as he's definitely one of New York's fastest, not to mention it's the second time he's won. Below is some great footage of the race put together by the good people from the BodaBoda crew, which they always do a great job of capturing 'the moment'. All In Relative Time

I rarely post BMX videos on here, not that I dis-like them, but I'm more into road & track bikes that I really don't care too much for those types of videos. However, this one definitely had to be posted since it's put together very well and is filmed throughout Miami, they even ride right by my building that I live in. And even though I tend to have my doubts at times about this city, this piece really showcases the many wonderful things "the magic city" has to offer. Created by Dillon Hearns for Atmosphere Bikes, they supposedly went through several "broken tripods, defective batteries, flat tires, time schedules, missing school to film, last minute changes, and other issues" to get this done. The end result was well worth it, great work guys!

La Noche Miami Crit

Looks like there will finally be an alleycat/criterium race during the Bicycle Film Festival here in Miami this month. Solid sponsors, dope prizes and legit organizers are shaping this to become one sick race! For more information on registration, list of prizes, location, and rules go here.

BFF MIA

The Bicycle Film Festival makes it's way back to Miami for another year! Due to last year's lack of support (what a surprise) there was concern on weather or not Miami would host another BFF, but it's coming back in full force. From March 17-20 there will be lots of great events, films and rides and I am definitely stoked to finally get to see Crihs' film 'Empire'!

It features several of America's bike couriers such as NYC's Kevin Bolger and Portland's James Adamson in action doing what they do best. Produced by Sweet Corn Studios aka Kenton Hoppas, Career Courier is a solid piece of work and sheds positive light on America's messenger scene. The Cinelli Story

Remembered maybe more for his cycling career, Cino Cinelli has changed the face of cycling as we know it today. From his days of winning races like the Milan-San Remo in 1943, the Giro di Lombardia in 1938, and the Tour of the Apennines in 1937. His brilliant intuitions led him to start a company in his own name in 1948.

In 1978, Cino handed the company over to a young entrepreneur in the steel tube industry with the bicycle at heart. Antonio Colombo owner of Columbus tubing had a different interpretation, perhaps more visionary. From the beginning up to the present, competition is always in Cinelli’s DNA. Its handlebars are chosen by champions such as Lemon, Fignon, Hinault and Chiappucci, without forgetting Lance Armstorng and Mario Cipollini and also Di Luca, Freire and Simoni.

Being a Cinelli owner myself, I've realized the great attention to detail that is used when frame-building at Cinelli. The welds, geometry, durability and overall creative design are what makes this bicycle company stand out way above the rest. They are definitely the best frames I've ever ridden.

MiaFixed.com 2yr Anniversary Tonight

I've never been one to join online forums. I'm already anti-social as is, plus I don't need to know who's jerking who off. But for some reason or another, I felt there was one particular forum that was necessary to join and that was miafixed.com. Mainly because I was building my first fixed gear conversion and was looking for parts people might be selling. Soon enough I started logging in daily for info on rides, events, stuff for sale, not to mention all the good people I was meeting. Now, it's been 2 years since I've been a member and I can't imagine a day without miafixed.com.

Tonight, right after the Critical Mass ride, close friend and forum administrator Rydel will host the MiaFixed 2 year anniversary party at BAR in downtown. Beers, bites, bikes and bike-films will be ever present...plus the weather is going to be in the pleasant 50's.

Frigid Fury

I absolutely love videos of riders mashing through city streets, especially good old NYC. Just last week, New York's BodaBoda crew put together this terrific video, filmed throughout the city with solid footage of riding in the dreary winter of the north, and what a winter it's been! I tell you, ever since I started riding I've really learned to appreciate the beautiful south and the weather it offers year round. In other words, I don't miss all that slush and snow one bit!

Grime Street

Tonight is the grand opening of the new Grime Street bike shop in New York's LES. In case you haven't heard, the Grime crew are all the rage these days. If you're in town, be sure to check out this solid affair...and who knows, you might even get a Grimeburger!
