Last night's game was a close one going into overtime and all, but it's just too bad for the Panthers. I mean seriously, when will they ever have a decent season? But in the end what really matters is that Buffalo wins 3-2. Sorry Beverly, but thanks for the tickets! :)

Let's Go Buffalo!

HBO 24/7: Road To The Winter Classic
I always love this time of year...Not only because Santa was good to me or because it's the holidays, but because there's time off from the daily grind. No schedules, no traffic, no worries...just good ale's, good rides, and good times. And of course it's also an opportunity to catch up on some much needed TV. I have tons of media laying around on my hard drive so I figured I'd do some catching up.Now, everyone knows I've been an avid hockey fan for decades and that my favorite time of the year is during the NHL Winter Classic which is an outdoor hockey game played annually on New Years Day. Well, HBO 24/7 created a series properly titled The Road To The Winter Classic which is a four-part documentary chronicling the preparation of the Washington Capitals and the Pittsburgh Penguins for this years outdoor game, which takes place at the home of the Pittsburgh Steelers, the great Heinz field. The documentary follows them on home and road games and gives unprecedented access on the functionality and politics of an NHL hockey team. You'll see Capitals head coach Bruce Boudreau lose his cool and throw "F" bombs like there's no tomorrow, great rookie pranks, locker room footage and traditions, and for the ladies, Alex Ovechkin in his briefs. Plus you'll hear what is actually being said on the ice, which is what I always wonder, especially during fights, penalties and that non-stop chirp players do to one another. One word...Excellent! It's basically all you ever wanted to know about what goes on behind the scenes of an NHL team. Highly recommended if you're into the game and it's got great music too, as most HBO 24/7 shows do.
Below are the first and second episodes , which aired December 15th and 22nd. The next episode is this Wednesday, December 29 at 10:00 PM. For more info and photos, click here.

Sloppy Seconds
Man you gotta love Sean Avery. No wonder he's definitely one of my favorite hockey players! Not only is he the NHL's biggest pest, he definitely knows how to remain in the spotlight! Check out his lovely comments towards Calgary's Dion Phanuef. Sad thing is I'd probably be the same way if I were an NHL player!

Hockey Post Season Wrap-Up
Here I go again with another hockey post. But this time, it's much shorter and I just want to show everyone how damn right I was about my playoff predictions on my previous blog-post. To begin with, I was right about the Detroit Red Wings. They were the very first team I spoke about and (of course) they won the cup without much of a struggle. I was also correct on the fact that the Washington Capitals were going to make the playoffs when at the time I wrote that they weren't even in the playoff spot. I also mentioned that Mr Alex Ovechkin would definitely win the MVP trophy and he sure as hell did (amongst many others). I was right about how Carolina, Ottawa, and Boston didn't stand a chance, and they sure as shit didn't. I kind of doubted Dallas as well but they played strong as hell. And I sorta hyped up the Anaheim Ducks a little too much when in fact they played a gash game! But boy was I on target when I spoke about the Pittsburgh Penguins.
Now that the season is over there is not much left for me in the sports world. I shall crawl back into my cave and hibernate till October when the new season starts. Till then, remember that I am a hockey god sent to the earth to school you cats!
