Fuck It Fridays: Monster Magnet - Bummer

It's been a long minute since I've done a 'Fuck It Friday' and since the weekend is finally here it's only proper that I finally deliver! Here we have the definition of sex, drugs and rock n' roll, the great Monster Magnet. These boys from Jersey know how to bring on the good times with their smoked out sounds and catchy riffs, perfect for the long summer days ahead. "Bummer" is an excellent blend of spaced out rock and hard hitting sludge metal with vocalist Dave Wyndorf providing the cherry on top. I can listen to this track over & over and it just gets better with each listen, definitely one of my favorite MM tracks of all time.

Why worry...

...about anyone or let alone anything when you got great quality music around such as Megadeth. Fuck off the jock and sweat this...fuckerzzzz!

New Lipp

Homie Eliot Lipp has a new EP out this month and as usual he delivers nothing but the best in analog sounds. It's out now on Eliot's Old Tacoma record label. His new single "Beamrider" which can be downloaded here, has to be one of the tightest electronic joints this season. Kinda has an old school Whodini-'Friends'-esque vibe to it. Definitely diggin' this one!

Slowdive

There is something distinct about Slowdive that always leaves me with a certain, unexplainable feeling. For those unaware, Slowdive is an obscure, underrated UK band that has often been compared to Dead Can Dance and This Mortal Coil. They've released stuff on the lovely 4-AD label as well as Creation UK so it's easy to see why they are compared to the bands mentioned. They create a wall of sound that wraps you up and never let's down. I've loved their stuff since my days of DJing at Mass and The Church and have managed to obtain most of their records, but this particular track called Avalyn off the album 'Just for a day' is my all time favorite. A perfect tune for rainy days or dark mornings, it's one of those songs that can't be explained, just felt. Feel for yourself here.
