MIA Fixed Jerseys
If you're a cyclist you know that one can never own enough jersey's, just like underwear. And when it comes to jersey's we rock we tend to be slightly picky since we all want to look good, while we really look dumb. Rydel and the gang from Miami Bike Scene produced these legit as hell Veloce jersey's that no doubt come through with a sweet, yet simple design representing the MIAFixed logo. However, if you want one you'll need to act fast! Since it's a rush order, tomorrow is the deadline to get your order in so get yours! For more info on how to obtain one go here.

Oh Boy!
Yesterday I went with wifey to get her pregnancy level 2 exam which is basically an in-depth look into how the baby is forming, functioning and growing. But the most exciting part is they can already determine the gender and yep...it's a boy! It's what I've always wanted and words will never describe the feeling! But you know what's most important, now my name shall live on! Check out some of the rad photos below!

2011 Cinelli Vigorelli & Mash
Just last week in Vegas was the annual Interbike trade show and the Cinelli reps were out in full force with a full line of new accessories and bikes. Very impressive to say the least, and it shows Cinelli is atop of the cycling game. The new Mash & Vigorelli are perfect examples. Take the Vigorelli for instance, how many years were they planning on releasing the same color-scheme? I mean, of course I love the original colors since it's on my Vigorelli, but I was honestly hoping for a different approach to make them stand out. So here we have the 2011 Vigorelli in a beautiful stealth-black with accents of red, green and yellow. The geometry hasn't changed much, just slightly, and hopefully like the Mash, they keep changing the color-scheme each year.

The 2011 Mash is not of this world, in fact it's out of this world! Everything about it is perfect and I couldn't be more in love with this frame. For the 2011 Mash, Cinelli decided on a steeper, more aggressive top-tube geometry (look at that thing!) and a paint job that is probably the best ever done on any of their bikes. That flat black & glossy blue with accents of gray go together hand in hand. They definitely upped the already highly praised Mash line to another level! In the end, this is one serious track bike and from the looks of it, Cinelli is the future of cycling.

Ride The Lightning
Only in NYC does a man get pushed onto a live third rail off a subway platform, endures 625 volts of shock treatment, and survives! Apparently the victim was drunk and tried to start some shit and annoyed the wrong people. Maybe all the booze in his system is what saved his life, who knows. Either way, it's a pretty bizarre story. After seeing the way "Ramo" got shocked in the movie Beat Street, I've always been terrified of that third rail! Read more of what unfolded in Brooklyn last Wednesday via Daily News, here.

Keirin Cycles R.I.P.
It's a sad day for the cycling community down here in Miami. I've just been informed that the great Keirin Cycles is no longer open for business. After being in service for a little over a year, they unfortunately have closed indefinitely, which is terrible news since I've always supported them from the beginning. They were the only shop in Miami where one could come into, drink a beer while Nick, Thomas or Fabian worked on your bike (without charging you labor if you were cool enough with the boys), watch videos and talk cycling shit for hours on end. They stocked quality frames and accessories, had the most knowledgeable staff in Florida and put together a slew of unforgettable events. It was definitely the hub for all fixed gear/track riders in South Florida and it will be dearly missed from deep within. It was the only shop of it's kind here in Miami and I doubt there will ever be another. Here's to Nick and Thomas for all the hard work they've accomplished. When I see you guys, first round is on me!

Cinelli x Mash Prototype
I know this has been plastered on just about every bike blog known to man, but since the Cinelli x Mash has always been my favorite track bike, this post is long overdue. Apparently they will be releasing two versions of the frame. One with some serious track geometry catered specifically for the track, which will be slightly higher in price, and one with the same perfect geometry and specs as the current street model. Their goal was to offer something different for the customer, which is always a plus. They also mentioned that the color scheme will not be what is currently being used on the prototype and that those are only stickers applied to a raw frame. But who cares about that, either way it's a beautiful bike! They should be up for sale sometime in 2011, "and no sooner" according to their blog.
Check out some photos below, read more on the Cinelli x Mash prototype here.

The LSD x NYC Subway Conspiracy
Ahhh, the stuff you read in The Post! Apparently, the CIA conducted tests on the NYC Subway system using an aerosol spray laced with LSD during November of 1950, with a second test a few years later. Since LSD/Acid was relatively new at the time, the CIA was doing a series of "mind control" experiments on an unsuspecting populace for over three decades, and NYC was one of the places where it all unfolded. Of course, any and all documentation and/or reports on the incident were destroyed by the CIA in 1973. Real nice. Too bad it wasn't weed! Read the entire article here.

Rocket Skates
The time has finally come for The Deftones to enlighten us once again. After many delays and most importantly with bassist Chi's condition on their minds, they have just released a free mp3 download on their website of the new single 'Rocket Skates' and have even provided us with the track listing for their new album "Diamond Eyes" which is due to be released on May 18, 2010.'Rocket Skates' is one hell of a song with an aggressive edge and then some. From the beginning drum rolls of Abe Cunningham to the serious riffs from lead guitarist Stephen Carpenter, this is well produced with a real tight sound. Chino Moreno's voice, as well as his screams sound better than ever! Not sure if it's effects on the vocals but he sounds amazing! I highly recommend listening to it if you haven't already, and be sure to buy the new album once it drops. Support!

South Of The Border
Can you imagine being in a flea market out in Guanajuato, Mexico and running into the famously stolen build from Lance Armstrong's bike shop Mellow Johnny's, the Trek Equinox TTX SSL!? It's been missing since November, stolen straight from the shop in Austin, TX. Just recently the $10,000 build was spotted in perfect condition without the wheels, for sale at a mexican flea market and sold to someone (for much less of course) which took it to a local bicycle shop where it was identified and returned, and everybody in the end was happy...even the thief I'm sure! Looks like the goods are definitely across the border. Makes you wonder what else one can find in those parts. Read more about it here.

Def-unct
The gods that are the Deftones have spoken and finally come clean regarding their upcoming album 'Eros'. Just as I predicted in my last blog post, 'Eros' will be put on hold for now as they stated on their website last week that they "realized this record doesn’t best encompass and represent who we are currently as people and as musicians." They went on to say that eventually the album "will see the light of day at some point, we collectively made the decision that we needed to take a new approach, and with Chi’s condition heavy on our minds while doing so." Basically they're saying what I told you guys a few weeks back. So now they are working on a new album that they claim will be their best recorded material ever, or at least they're striving for that. "We needed to return to the studio to do what we felt was right artistically. Our inspiration and unity as a band is stronger than it has ever been before and we needed to channel that energy into our music, and deliver to our fans what you rightly deserve: the best Deftones record that we can make." The boys got to do what they got to do and if they feel they need to change direction a little, I'm totally with that. I've waited long enough for this, what's another few extra months. I'm sure it will be well worth it...it always is without a doubt. For more information or to send some support to their bassist Chi, click here. Check out some recent shots from their studio below.

Sloppy Seconds
Man you gotta love Sean Avery. No wonder he's definitely one of my favorite hockey players! Not only is he the NHL's biggest pest, he definitely knows how to remain in the spotlight! Check out his lovely comments towards Calgary's Dion Phanuef. Sad thing is I'd probably be the same way if I were an NHL player!

Ain't it dead yet?

The other day I read yet another article stating that retailers such as Amazon and Best Buy are trying to bring back the wax. Claiming that vinyl is back in high demand. Gee, really!?!? Well at least in my book it's always been in high demand. Anyway, I first noticed the craze about a month or so ago on cnn.com then this last week on msn.com so this is definitely becoming another hyped up trend. Artists are indeed releasing more music on vinyl format these days, this is true. In fact, just the other day at a used record store I saw tons of old material (and new) that have just been re-released/repressed on wax. Apparently, labels are re-releasing back catalog material and sales are supposedly doing good. Many popular bands such as Portishead, Coldplay, R.E.M, Radiohead, etc are releasing their new albums on vinyl format as well. For one reason, I think it's great! I mean, I managed to buy Metallica's "Ride the lightning" and "Kill em' all" at store value. Waaay cheaper than what these babies are going for on E(vil)-Bay. And better, they have been re-mastered from the original tapes and re-pressed on 180grm vinyl at 45rpm. For those that aren't geek's such as I, that means they sound really fucking good! Seemingly so, record pressing plants are not many these days, and the few that exist are overwhelmed with the demand. In my opinion, this is something for the die hard music collector and not for your average person, being that Mr. Economy isn't feeling too good and music is free/downloadable everywhere you look. Let's just see how long this goes on. Check out the msn article or the cnn article to see for yourself!
